Over 2 of those months are waiting on the machine shop that’s rebuilding the head. I’ve been calling regularly but first the valves were bent, then the technical data was off, then the valve guides were 1 thousandths too big, when I called on Monday it was said to be finished,”hopefully tonight, I’ll call you when its done”. Still no word

Driving a 255,000 mile Honda civic with a roached clutch is wearing me thin. Sure, you can take it on drives but it always feels like it could blow up on the next long grade.

It’s been 7000 miles so far and I’m nearing my gearhead breaking point with the lack of torque, safe handling, meh gas mileage, and no stereo. As enthusiasts, cars are a part of our identity and this car does nothing for me on many levels. I miss having rwd with good looks and torque....god do I miss torque(which is to say I miss the sc400 when it worked, but I'll settle for the mini at this point)

If this keeps up I’m liable to buckle and buy an ls400.

Thanks, I’ll try and it’s been saving money so there is a bright side to all this waiting

This is the reason I didn’t buy a Mini. I was already sick and tired of the “I have a cool car but it’s broken right now” life. You seem to have bad luck with risky cars, if I were you I’d consider getting something known for reliability and laeving it stock. Like a V8 mustang, or a 350Z.

That said your Mini is sick. Unfortunately it’s also sick.

Yeah, a g35 would make a decent daily over this, I'm kinda over the boy racer vibe the mini throws off and the pull me over red

Som e thing about how they were oversized and he cant hone them. Also made me buy the parts because he couldnt find them, than the oarts I bought were slightly too large and he ended up ordering the right guides himself.

Now I'm stuck with guides that were $15 a pop on top of paying for the ones that hes theoretically pressing into the head

I’d love to say that when you get it back together I’d buy it, because I do love it. But I want to go the other direction.

I want ultra reliable, and Rwd. I want a Miata.

It could be yours for $4500, I'd be loosing money to pay of the loan but well worth it to go to someone who wants it

It kept eating belts, having the whole front system changed: tensioner, idler, crank, etc. Figured I would also throw some front camber plates at it as well.
